Bertin Bistro and Restaurant is a newly opened two story venue located in Al Manara on Sheikh Zayed Road with a very interesting story of how it came to be. The concept is inspired by love and travels through France, Spain and Morocco. The story journey is nicely displayed inside the restaurant wall and in the menu. Both floors offer outdoor seating with the ground floor consisting of a modern contemporary open kitchen atmosphere, whereas the top floor portrays the Moroccan ambience but with a Spanish twist. This place is perfect to come to at any time of the day to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner variety options, without ever forgetting the burgers.
Unique to this restaurant and a must try, the Portobello sliders with prime beef, cheese and mushrooms came in a Portobello bun instead of bread with a nice smokey bbq sauce. Priced at 60 AED, these grilled to perfection sliders along with the combination of all the ingredients made them exceptionally tasty. The meat was cooked just right and the mixture of the cheese with mushrooms and sauce sandwiched between the Portobello buns were simply heavenly. An inquiry was raised to see if a bigger version could be possible, but it was explained that in order to ensure that the correct consistency of the portobellos are maintained so does a certain size need to be kept. In any case, it’s perfect to share or just keep for yourself ;).
The 220 gram prime beef burger arrived in a branded wooden tray and was served with a portion of potato wedges and a cucumber with red onions salad in yogurt. The burger was in a sweet brioche bread with tomatoes, caramelized onions, cheese, lettuce, mushrooms, pickles, bacon and mayonnaise. This massive burger, worth every penny priced at 58 AED, was very savory. The meat wasn’t well done as requested but close enough and very tender. The fusion of all the ingredients was good but the bread was too sweet for my liking. A buttery brioche tasting bread would’ve been perfect with this burger as the caramelized onions already add the right amount of sweetness needed. The consistency of the bread was great though as it didn’t fall apart and stayed nice throughout the whole experience. The only reason I had to use a knife and fork to finish in the end was only due to it’s size.
I would definitely come back here again, for the Portobello sliders, the burger and to try other dishes. The menu is also very decently priced and you definitely get your money’s worth. The burgers were by far one of the best and unique that I’ve tasted in Dubai and I will be back here again. My overall rating 4/5.
